Summer Skin - Faff Free

The glossy magazines might be filled with bronzed beauties with an average age of 15 but for most of us over 40, summer skin can mean more parched and dehydrated skin or leave us more prone to oiliness and breakouts.  

Here are my summer skin favourites that I love that care for summer skin, allowing you to look and feel amazing faff free.

Summer Organic Skincare Favourites For Face

Summer Cleansing Balm

Gently cleanse all traces of your sun protection away, while getting some decent hydration into your skin. Cleanse with my Carrot & Mango Cleansing Butter, by gently massaging into parched skin, and removing with a cloth wrung through with hand hot water.

Summer Wash Off Cleanser

If you're a water baby, and wedded to a wash off cleanser, try my super gentle, Apricot Geranium Cleansing Bar. It does the business with lashings of organic Olive and Apricot oils, and a dash of gently cleansing pink clay. And bonus, no plastic bottles in sight, and it travels fuss free. No decanting into tiddly bottles.

Summer Light Face Oils

A day out in the sun can be drying, so top up with a couple of drops of my Facial Essence to restore moisture and radiance, but still keeping it light.

A face oil might not sound like a lighter option, but they have the ability to hydrate and give skin a natural glow, while avoiding the feel of a heavier style moisturiser.

Pick Facial Essence with Rose & Blackcurrant for an antioxidant packed dose of hydration, great for skin that is dry or dehydrated.

Pick Radiance Facial Essence with Rose & Marula if you're suffering with an oily T zone, or you are prone to break outs. It's a blend of 100% natural ingredients specifically designed to support sensitive, combination type skins, including rose, marula, hazelnut and raspberry seed.

Bonus, it's great on redness or if your skin needs a little soothing TLC. 

Summer SPF

I don't offer an SPF in the range currently.  This is primarily because the formulation of an SPF needs careful testing and compliance with legislation to meet legal requirements within the UK - and for now this is beyond the scope of what I can do easily from my home lab.

An SPF is an important part of your summer routine, especially we age and skin sun damage shows up more easily.

I recommend incorporating your favourite SPF with your skin care.  I layer my SPF over my facial essence or combine with my Radiance Cream when I want more hydration.

Summer DIY Tinted Moisturiser

If you need a little bit of extra coverage, but still want to keep it sheer,  don't forget you can combine your favourite Facial Essence with a touch of liquid foundation.  

I like to do this when my skin looks a bit grey, in the cooler months.

You can also combine your favourite foundation/tint with the Radiance Cream - this gives a lovely, natural finish while a little bit of colour for extra radiance.

Less is more - a little simplicity

They're either in their 30s and  40s juggling kiddies and jobs.

Or they tend to be in the 40s, 50s, and upwards - and are juggling busy lives with and adapting to their skin's changing needs, perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

 

I'm all about ignoring the rules, must have products, must have ingredients, it's exhausting.  Let's ditch this idea that you need tens of products and a 10 step skincare routine.

 

Simplicity is good.

My face oils, balms and creams are all designed to nurture and protect.  

For skin that is  dry, dehydrated, or mature pick my Facial Essence with Rose & Blackcurrant.  It's all about feeding your skin, nourishment, and satiny plumped up skin with generous amounts of Argan, Blackcurrant, Baobab, Camellia and Cranberry oils but no heavy or greasy feeling.

For skin that is prone to oiliness, breakouts and rosacea, or just a little fiddly pick my Facial Essence for Rose & Marula.  Think super soft skin.  Clear skin - with the hand selected essential oils which are inherently anti-bacterial and particularly suited to oily, combination skins.  Plumped up, cushiony, comfortable skin.  It helps keep breakouts under control.  It's perfect if you suffer from red-ness or rosacea.
