Radiance Cream with Rose & Frankincense - Behind The Scenes
So what happens when things change when you least expect it?
The last 4 months have been a little tricky as I have found myself unexpectedly working on a new formulation for your favourite Radiance Cream. I know this is your most loved 5 star favourite, so no pressure!
And I say unexpected because one of my key suppliers went out of business meaning I can no longer source the exact ingredients hence the need to change the formulation.
This has meant a lot of re-work. 34 different iterations to be precise, which is a lot of face cream !😳 Not to mention sign off by my chemist, (twice) and challenge testing (also twice).
I've been dreading telling you as any business owner will tell you, if it ain't broken don't fix it. And definitely don't change it. But unfortunately that was not an option.
So, there is a brand new shiny formula which will be available next week.
1 - What's the same?
I looked at all your favourite things - the ingredients, texture, scent and have kept this as close as possible to the original.
The cream is still packed with my favourite plant oils to build hydration, softness and long lasting moisturised comfortable skin.
The scent is still made from pure essential oils including rose oil and organic frankincense essential oils. I have also added a couple of extra essential oils into the mix.
The Radiance Cream is still rich in natural butters, including organic shea and cocoa butters.
And the good news is that I have included some additional ingredients which are amazing for older skins to give you more of the results you love.
2 - What's Different
These are some of the new ingredients I have added.
Camellia oil for its rich hydrating properties but with a lighter skin feel.
Apricot oil for its sensitive skin loving properties, softening, anti-inflammatory, and its ability so soothe skin that is feeling irritated or itchy.
Olive squalane for its ability to improve skin suppleness, its benefits as an antioxidant and its ability to improve skin barrier function.
Niacinamide - you might have heard of this, it's getting a lot of PR at the moment, but it's not a new ingredient. Sometimes known as vitamin B3, it's one of the few ingredients able to make a tangible positive difference to over 40 skin with scientific evidence to back it up. It 's a great skin improving ingredient.
3 - What Happened Behind the Scenes?
Honestly it was a little stressful. 🤯 It's one thing to make changes in a planned way (which appeals to my inner control freak) and quite another to have change enforced on you.
Besides the obvious work on a coming up with a better version of the Radiance Cream, there's a whole lot of stuff needed to happen in addition to this.
This includes a lot of formulation testing, challenge testing done by a lab to check the preservative system is effective, stability testing, and each round of testing can take almost 2 months. And I did this twice - my perfectionist tendencies kicked in, and I decided I was not happy with the first iteration!
All of the labels needed reprinting, and finally all products for sale in the UK legally need to be registered on a government register with all of the updated ingredients and labels.
