Rid Yourself of the Winter Blues!
February here we come! Could January have felt any longer? If you are anything like me, it has felt as if it would never end; the post Christmas glow long gone to be replaced by the madness of life at the office, and the alternating cold and wet of the winter weather.
So I thought I would share some tips and tricks to help you relax and find a moment of calm in the coming days.
Give your skin a boost.
A facial oil sounds scary - but they are great for all skins, especially at this time of year. They have a great skin feel and are known as a 'dry' oil because they will not leave any sort of oily feel on the skin, instead leaving it perfectly hydrated and super smooth.
For skin that is looking a little tired and lacking in radiance try our award winning Facial Essence with Rose & Marula. It is packed with organic Rosehip Oil which is one of the best oils for regenerating skin cells and for giving tangible results with softening and even smoothing scar tissue.
The oil is full of essential fatty acids and vitamin A - both of which give a clue to its effectiveness in reducing lines and wrinkles. The essential fatty acids hydrate the skin and help smooth out wrinkles plus they crucial for maintaining healthy skin. And it is these same fatty acids which give a rejuvenating and regenerating effect on the skin.
It also feels great on the skin; it is known as a 'dry' oil because it does not leave any sort of oily feel on the skin, instead it is hydrating and quickly absorbed.
A Mini Spa Treatment
Find 20 minutes to your self to turn your bath into a mini spa treatment. Seriously what you need is oodles of warm water, and some seriously high powered ingredients. Balancing Organic jojoba? Check. Chickweed Oil to chase away the dry, itchy bits? Yup. Gentle Organic Apricot Oil? Check. And a fabulous synergistic blend of pure essential oils, green and woody cypress oil, with sweet smelling and balancing Geranium Oil and a twist of lavender to help you chill.
And for the magic bit? The warm, steamy environment allows the oils to release more aroma molecules, softening the skin and more easily absorbing into the skin to work their magic. Run out of your favourite TRT Oil? Never mind. Just add 5-10 drops of an essential oil direct into a running bath, or mixed with a carrier oil if preferred. Our favourites? Try 10 drops of geranium, which is both relaxing and energising. Rose and lavender is perfect after a long day, or for a man friendly scent, try a blend of cedarwood, mint and juniper.
The Magic of Smell
Light a candle. Ever wondered about how the scent in your favourite candle or skincare product has the power to relax or revitalise you, or to unlock a memory from your past? Our sense of smell is incredibly powerful - and uncontrollable - and yet is one of the least appreciated of our senses. We have the ability to pick up and identify over 10,000 smells!
The word 'olfactory' comes from the Latin 'olfacere' to smell, and it is via the olfactory nerve that the magic happens. The inside of our nose is formed of special nerve cells that connect direct to the brain via the olfactory nerves.
Our sense of smell is a significant aspect of our wellbeing; our brain is triggered into categorising any smell into an action - are we safe, friend or foe etc. And interestingly this is different for different people, what you associate as safe and relaxing might have completely the opposite effect on someone else.
